How to check the type of my computer’s operating system?

Windows operating systems are available as 32 and 64 bit versions. To check which system is on your computer, click the right mouse button on My Computer and then Properties.

1) for Windows XP:

  • 32 bit version - Windows XP information will appear

  • 64 bit version - Windows XP x64 information will appear

2) for Windows Vista:

  • 32 bit version – “system type: 32-bit operating system” information will appear

  • 64 bit version - „system type: 64-bit operating system” information will appear

3) for Windows 7:

  • 32 bit version – „system type: 32-bit operating system” information will appear

  • 64 bit version – „system type: 64-bit operating system” information will appear
