Cybercriminals have attacked a computer belonging to Edinburgh’s city council. The machine stored data on people who sought debt advice. Cybercrooks get access to data on 8745 persons. There’s no indication that such data were abused. Apologies were sent to victims.
„This is a serious crime that could have potentially damaging consequences if individuals' identities are stolen and used. We have advised people to be vigilant and to check their bank and credit card statements very carefully for unusual transactions“ - a council’s spokesperson said.
