Cybercriminals have attacked Gemnet, a company that issues certificates for Duch government. Attackers were able to access Gemnet server that was not protected by a password. Then, using this server, they get access to a database. All Gemnet computers were turned off after discovering the breach. KPN, Gemnet’s parent company, informed that an attacker accessed only publicly available data.
Earlier this year cybercriminals have attacked DigiNotar, a company that issued digital certificates. DigiNotar bancrupted.
