Security experts informs of an increasing number of ransomware attacks. Cybercriminals eg. infect victim’s computer with a malware that blocks the machine and displays them information that they have to pay for unlocking the computer. „While we are used to seeing this kind of fake message in English, in this case the attacks are localised. We have seen English, German, Spanish and Dutch [messages], depending on the targeted country. All of the attacks are targeting some European country, so it looks like they are related and the same cyber criminal gang could be behind them“ - experts say.
The attack is not targeted but upon infection the malware connects to cybercriminal’s server and based on IP it retrieves a localised version of a message that appears on computer’s screen.
